The Community Services Department provides supportive services to Madera County residents in the form of energy assistance, rent/mortgage assistance, shelter for chronically homeless women with disabilities, and transportation for the elderly and sick in Eastern Madera County.

Shunammite Place
The Shunammite Place Permanent Supportive Housing Program provides permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless women with disabilities. Intended to end the cycle of homeless, the Program has been designed to assist and encourage a lifestyle free from addiction. The Shunammite Place helps women with issues of mental and physical health by encouraging structure, improvement, dedication, and goals achievement.

You can download an English or Spanish application or you may pick one up in person at:

Once your application is complete, please drop it off at 510 S. G Street #102 in Madera.

Transportation
Senior Citizen Bus
The Senior Citizen Bus serves disabled individuals and those who are 60 years and older who live in Ahwahnee, Bass Lake, Coarsegold, and Oakhurst. The bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift and provides transportation to medical appointments, senior centers, shopping, and to various businesses in Eastern Madera County. Medical appointments take priority over all other trips.

Escort Program
The Medical Escort Bus serves residents of Ahwahnee, Bass Lake, Coarsegold, North Fork, Oakhurst, and Raymond. Individuals can be transported to doctor or medical related appointments in Madera, Fresno, and Clovis.

 Senior Nutrition Program

The Senior Nutrition Program offers adults 60 years and older in Eastern Madera County a nutritionally balance, delicious lunch for a suggested donation of $1.75 per meal. Lunch is served on days and times as indicated by site. No senior will be denied a meal due to the inability to donate. Call the site of your choice ahead to reserve a meal.

Meals on Wheels:
If you are 60 years of age or older, and you are unable to leave your home to join us at one of our congregate meal sites you may be eligible for home delivered meals. This service provides meals to seniors, Tuesday through Friday (excluding holidays). There is a suggested donation of $2.00 per meal.  For more information please contact Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) at 559-600-4405.
 

Effective Parenting
The CAPMC Effective Parenting Program consists of two parenting enrichment programs, the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) and the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), which assist parents and families in improving parenting skills and family relationships at home. Both training models aim to enhance confidence in parenting and deliver effective ways to strengthen family relationships. Parents are given an opportunity to build their parenting skills and develop parenting strategies that help to prevent and/or reduce behavioral, emotional and social problems in youth and children. The Fresno Madera Continuum of Care Point In Time Count 2013

The main purpose of the biennial Fresno Madera Continuum of Care Point-in-Time Report is to present a snapshot of the number of persons who are homeless on a given night within the Fresno & Madera regions. The Fresno Madera Continuum of Care (FMCoC) is an organized consortium of partners, meeting the requirements of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide a comprehensive coordinated homeless housing and services delivery system called a continuum of care (CoC).
